Curiosity is how it began for me and how I still am. I always wanted to know, how does that work? Why does that work that way? And why does anybody really care? I can remember when I went to technical college, I went to become a programmer. They had these little things called microchips, little circuits that they put inside of things that were just magic to me. They were little boxes, and it just dumbfounded me how these worked.
That bugged me and challenged me, and I finally had a chance to look into it, and it just kind of sucked me right in, and I haven't looked back since. So it's wanting to understand things I don't understand. The more I learned the more I wanted to learn. I couldn't get enough.
Of course the first program I learned to write was "Hello World", like most newbies to programming. I was impressed at how you could get a machine to do something. To show something you just programmed it to do and exactly how you wanted to see it.
